I was able to make my job from my passion.

What will always stay with me is the feeling I got when I got my diploma at the end of the school year. Seeing your portfolio at the end of the year, the feeling you get when your teachers inform you that you have passed, is priceless. It is a very special feeling to know that you are now part of the big MAKE UP FOR EVER family and that your portfolio has been validated by make-up professionals.

After my studies, I immediately started working in the make up world. First through agencies, then on my own. I worked for TV, film shoots, catwalk shows and much more.

Today, I have been a make-up teacher for more than 9 years. I consider it an honour to teach the art of make-up to other make-up enthusiasts. I now share with others the professionalism and enthusiasm passed on to me by the Make Up For Ever Academy. MAKE UP FOR EVER changed my life: I was able to make my job from my passion.

Work is done with dedication, and quality

Make Up For Ever is still my "bébé préféré" when working! Both as a teacher, freelancer and with private clients. I am 20 years in the business, if I would start again today, I would be an enthusiastic voter of the MAKE UP FOR EVER ACADEMY Brussels.

Through years of experience as an employee, I have seen up close how dedicated work is done, with an eye on quality. The annual objective; level up. What interests me most is the extensive content of theme, style, technique and products. As a guest teacher, this is where my passion for dark skin makeup started, I have really enjoyed pouring this into a lesson form as well, and I transfer the passion to the people around me.

My most precious moments were the internships

I fondly remember the pleasant atmosphere in our classroom, and the fun times during our shooting days. My most precious moments during the Academy were the internships, especially those on film sets. For the first time, we entered the real world, which was very impressive.

Through these internships I was able to build my network, and this allowed me to find my first jobs after the Academy. The first two years it was hard to make ends meet, but thanks to my connections I was able to gradually build my career to where I am today.

I mainly work in the event and theatre sector. For example, I worked at Tomorrowland (Winter),  and We Can Dance. I also work a lot at big corporate parties, where I get a lot of creative freedom. I work at Bobbejaanland during the Halloween period, creating zombies and scary figures. In the theatre sector, I have worked on The Little Mermaid, Beauty & The Beast, Winter Revue and the Ketnet Musical, and in the future I will also tour Belgium and the Netherlands with the Mega Mindy tour and K3 & the 3 little pigs. I have also already worked on films, for which I spent several months abroad. In between, I work for series at, for example, Ketnet and VTM.

The best decision I could have made

After completing my high school in Pakistan, I immediately knew I wanted to study at a renowned make up school. My research to find the best schools in Europe led me to the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy Brussels, and this was the best decision I could have made.

I chose the 10-month course, where I met many people from other cultures and learnt a huge number of new techniques that I did not know existed. My teachers were not only talented but also able to guide us well during our creative process.

My favourite moments during the Academy were the internships. Here I could perfect the techniques we learnt in class, and I got an idea of what it was like to work in the professional field. This gave me confidence in myself and my abilities, and I discovered my passion: fashion and editorial make-up.

After my year in Brussels, I moved to Rotterdam to build my life as a professional make-up artist. All beginnings are difficult, but through networking I found a motivated group of models and photographers I work with. My goal is to one day see our work on the cover of Vogue!

I was surrounded by many different talents

I chose the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy because I knew the brand from all the big fashion shows all around the world. Also, the brand has great visibility in the Arab world, which was important for me. For your future as a make up artist, you have a lot to gain from an apprenticeship like MAKE UP FOR EVER. I opted for the 6-month course. During the classes, I was surrounded by many different talents. You learn not only from the teachers, but also from the people around you.

Every day was exciting and different

Every day at the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy was exciting and different. I really enjoyed all the classes, specifically those given by the guest teachers. The quality of the classes allowed me to start working immediately after my training, and I quickly built a valuable network. Today, I have been an ambassador for MAKE UP FOR EVER for eight years. I have been self-employed for 10 years in all sectors: in the cinema sector, events, advertising, weddings and so much more. I also give my own private lessons.

I still apply everything I learned in the Academy

I have great memories of the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy Brussels. My favourite moments were the afternoons when we practiced, I had a lot of interaction with my teachers and my fellow students. We were given lots of valuable information, and we were able to experiment a lot while preparing for our shoots. I enjoyed creating complete concepts, making accessories, thinking about the image as a whole,.... We learned so much more than just make up!

After my training, I was able to work at MAKE UP FOR EVER as a make up artist and teacher.

I am very grateful for everything the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy has given me, and I am excited to continue sharing this passion with others. I am currently working in Romania, where I continue to apply and develop everything I learnt during the Academy. I am developing my own make up course, as teaching remains one of my biggest passions.

MAKE UP FOR EVER gave me a strong foundation

I have many positive memories of the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy, but one of the most important is what an incredible transformation make up can bring about, and how it can boost your self-confidence. It was very enriching to be able to create incredible looks that put a smile on every model's face.

I was very happy to learn the basic techniques at a renowned make-up school, because after my training, I was hired to work as an eyebrow designer at Atelier du Sourcil and also became a make-up artist at their boutique in Morocco. Here I was able to use all my accumulated knowledge, and got more hands-on experience. I learnt advanced techniques in semi-permanent make-up: eyebrows, eyeliner, candy lips, and also tattooing on the skin.... This would not have been possible without my strong foundation.

I currently freelance for local events, weddings and photoshoots, and also work with a number of beauty salons, spas and hairdressers. I have maintained a good portfolio after the Academy, which has helped me build strong relationships with my clients. Networking is essential in this industry. These are skills they already taught us in the Academy.

The key to success is perseverance, creativity and striving for continuous improvement. It may take some time to make a name for yourself, but with determination, you will definitely get there!

I started looking for a real quality training course and ended up at MAKE UP FOR EVER.

After a basic training in grooming and make-up, I was ready to delve more into make-up and make it my profession. I started looking for a real quality training course and ended up at MAKE UP FOR EVER.

The most valuable aspects of the training are the internships and shooting days. These could already be stressful at times, but I could also really enjoy them.

After my training, I started working in sales at Bobbi Brown. Here I worked for a year, before starting work at Estee Lauder. I started as a trainer at Smashbox, and I got to help roll out the brand within Ici Paris XL in Belgium. I also worked as a trainer and brand manager for Jane Iredale.Alongside this, I have also developed my freelance career.

I am currently working for i.am.klean, a Belgian mineral makeup brand.
